Looking to grow his own engineering skills and career, James took the advice of his cousins who attended Kennesaw State University and enrolled in the Master of Science in Civil Engineering program. Today, he plays a critical role in research that could change the way engineers address lighting inside tunnel systems.

The trajectory of Vignesh Mullaguru鈥檚 academic journey truly began taking shape four years ago. In 2020, as student experiences shifted online out of necessity, Mullaguru was unexpectedly ushered into an era of discovery. Mullaguru, who recently earned a degree in interactive design from Kennesaw State University, had always been interested in design. As a student at Johns Creek High School, Mullaguru thought he might leverage that interest into a career in architecture.

Kennesaw State University student Emily Manqueros鈥 study of the efficacy of bioglass on bringing medical treatments into human bodies won the top prize at the Birla Carbon Scholars Symposium on Thursday. Now in its 11th year, the symposium marks the completion of an intensive summer research program that allows students to apply their studies toward sponsored projects under the guidance of Kennesaw State faculty scholars.

Now, Belinfante uses those skills to aid the country鈥檚 agricultural community, identifying bacterial respiratory infections in swine and searching for solutions through a fellowship with Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) with the United States Department of Agriculture.
