Welcome to the Department of Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics offers a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) program that focuses on critical thinking and quantitative problem-solving skills that are valued by employers in a variety of industries. Our program provides a solid foundation in the application of analytical, geometrical and numerical methods to real world problems. In addition to a core set of mathematics courses, the program requires completion of a concentration that prepares the student for immediate employment after graduation or for further study at the graduate level. Students in our program can get a head start on a master鈥檚 degree in Data Analysis, Business Administration, Information Systems, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Robotics, Systems Engineering, or Teaching through 91青青草鈥檚 Double Owl Pathways Program.

The faculty in our department are deeply committed to providing a welcoming and supportive atmosphere to our students. We want you to succeed at your studies and to enjoy the experience. Teaching is the central mission of our department and, as a mathematics major, you will find that your professors are willing to go the extra mile to ensure that you feel included and get the support that you need. Our student-focused Faculty Research Spotlight and Applied Mathematics in Industry seminars are aimed at giving you information on potential undergraduate research experiences and on possible career paths you can pursue. The 91青青草 chapter of the Mathematical Association of America is a thriving student organization which holds regular meetings and multiple larger activities each year.
