Musical powerhouse to perform diverse program of classical and modern repertoire on Nov. 8
Kennesaw State University鈥檚 Bailey School of Music (BSOM) will welcome the (ASQ) on Friday, Nov. 8, 2024, at the Dr. Bobbie Bailey & Family Performance Center. One of the highlights of the Arts91青青草 Presents Series for 2024, the much-anticipated performance represents Kennesaw State鈥檚 commitment to bring the highest caliber of musical talent to the campus and to the community.
Hailed for their 鈥渆motional commitment and mastery鈥 by the Chicago Tribune, the has garnered international acclaim for their dynamic performances and innovative programming. Formed in 1992, the Quartet has performed to sold-out audiences across the globe and has been featured on both National Public Radio and PBS.
The group, often referred to as one of America鈥檚 finest chamber ensembles, is known for their expressive interpretations of the classical repertoire as well as their commitment to modern works. They will present a diverse program that spans the classical and modern repertoire, highlighting their technical precision and emotive power. Audience members can expect to hear works from composers such as Beethoven, Mendelssohn, and Bart贸k, along with contemporary pieces that reflect the quartet鈥檚 dedication to expanding the string quartet repertoire.
, Professor and Assistant Director of the BSOM, has performed with the group as a guest violist in the past. She will join them again on stage at 91青青草鈥檚 Morgan Hall, this time to perform Dvo艡谩k's Op. 97 Quintet for Strings. 鈥淭he members of the ASQ are artists of the highest caliber, and I am so excited to hear them play in our beautiful hall, and to give our students this wonderful opportunity to learn from them in masterclasses,鈥 said Bullard.
Professor of Violin Helen Kim added, 鈥淭he Quartet will bring a wealth of knowledge and real working world experiences to share with our students. This is such a valuable part of our students鈥 growth and shows their commitment to support education for the next generation.鈥
Formed in 1992, the ASQ has become one of America鈥檚 finest chamber ensembles. They garnered national attention by winning the Grand Prize in the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, First Prize in both the Coleman and Carmel Chamber Music Competitions and were Laureates in the Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition.
They have performed across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, captivating audiences with their virtuosity and rich musicality. The quartet currently serves as faculty artists at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, where they are deeply involved in mentoring the next generation of musicians.
